The Development Engineer will play a key role in supporting technical work during the initial phases of wind, solar, and BESS project development. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll work in a highly collaborative role supporting energy resource collection, preliminary project designs, feasibility, and managing consultant deliverables.
- Procure meteorological (met) towers, LiDAR systems, solar stations, and other measurement equipment to support site resource characterization
- Coordinate site placement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of measurement equipment with vendors, landowners, and the development team
- Track equipment performance and data quality, escalating issues as needed
- During the preliminary development phase, assess initial constraint mapping and perform engineering fatal flaw analysis
- Coordinate with external consultants to obtain resource data, environmental studies, and engineering deliverables
- Compile and review data to support energy yield assessments and preliminary permitting packages
- Maintain organized records of consultant deliverables and ensure timely delivery to project teams
- Priorities and responsibilities may change as the company matures and your skill sets expand
You have gained some experience in the renewable energy industry with an understanding of energy resources, technical fatal flaws, engineering layouts, site design, and optimization. You’re analytical, pay close attention to detail, and enjoy working both autonomously and as part of a team.
- 3+ years of experience working in renewable energy project development
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related technical field.
- Knowledge of met tower and LiDAR systems is highly preferred
- Familiarity with preliminary site design tools and constraints analysis for wind and solar projects.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Software experience in AutoCAD, and/or ArcGIS a plus.
