Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- After hire: completion of Meriter Pharmacy’s Pharmacist Assistant training program
- 2 years of Health care experience
- 1-2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced work environment
- Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Microsoft Office applications
- Internet applications
- Use of phone/pager/fax/e-mail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Typing skills
- Communication skills- fluent in English
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Preferred or Specialized Requirements:
- Associate degree OR completion of/enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program at an accredited university
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous direct patient care experience
- Previous work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Epic Systems software operation
- Basic medication facts- generic/brand drug names, formulation, indication, etc.
- Basic healthcare facts- disease physiology, laboratory tests
- Healthcare system resources to obtain medical information
- Understanding formularies, medical charts, and legal issues related to pharmacy practice
- Able to work as part of a team; balancing leadership and the ability to delegate while maintaining collaborative group efforts.
- Demonstrates effective communication and interactive skills when working with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, other health care professionals, and a diverse patient population.
- Takes initiative in problem solving
- Demonstrates motivation to work independently
- Capability to multi-task
- Demonstrates professionalism through commitment to the advancement of pharmacy services
