Position Summary:

  • Maintains the physical cleanliness of Senior Center offices, kitchen, activity space and restrooms. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following description is a general representation of the key duties and responsibilities of the position. 

  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, and waxes floors in dining area, and program and office areas.
  • Removes trash from kitchen, program and office areas.
  • Sets up tables, chairs, and other furniture for center activities and meals.
  • Performs other routine duties such as window washing, dusting, cleaning entranceways, heavy kitchen cleaning, as required.
  • Sanitizes tables in between programs and after use by participants.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, restocks supplies and empty trash in designated restrooms.
  • Maintains sidewalks are in a safe manner by removing snow, ice or other objects that might cause an accident.
  • Tracks custodial supply inventory and notifies supervisor when ordering of new supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position including specific courses, training programs or required certifications. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all staff and participants.

This role routinely uses standard office and cleaning equipment.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard and telephone.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required, up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Moderate noise (i.e. phone, and printers, participants, light traffic).
  • Able to stand for the majority of the designated shift hours.
  • Able to perform custodial activities.
  • Work environment is stressful at times.
