Student Worker - Museum Education Assistant
Purpose/Objective of the Role:
Museum Education Assistants assist with the creation and maintenance of K-12 and adult learning experiences at the Ross Art Museum.
They research, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate activities designed for targeted audiences. Museum Education Assistants are required to help during K-12 student visits and outreach events.
They monitor on-site learning stations and may be asked to visit local groups or schools.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Help maintain mailing and social media contact list with local educators using Google sheets.
- Draft contact letters promoting educational programming at the Ross Art Museum.
- Research and design age-appropriate museum learning activities.
- Develop learning objectives and goals.
- Assist in the creation of reports assessing the success of museum learning activities.
- Produce instructional sheets using Canva or InDesign software.
- Work with collaborators to organize educational experiences at the museum.
- Participate in and potentially lead K-12 school tours and school visits.
Qualifications/Skills:
- All OWU students in any major are eligible to apply. Students with Federal Work Study are encouraged to apply.
- Students should enjoy working with children and have an ability to act and present professionally when engaging with a diverse public.
- Students should have the ability to be timely, dependable, display reasonable decision-making capacity, and diligently follow appropriate open and close procedures.

- Students should have a passion for Art that they are excited to share with others.

Students working as Museum Education Assistants will gain knowledge about museum education as a career. All activities are relevant to those pursuing art education degrees.

Commitment: 5-6 hours per week, minimum wage
Term: Full Academic Year (Fall & Spring), temporary, part-time position
