Job Title: Quality Control Engineer
Reports to: Quality Control Manager
Summary:
QC Engineer conducts laboratory testing to ensure materials and products meet design criteria and standard of quality. Assist in Quality Assurance audits assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Organize and analyze quality data. Consult with management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are included; other duties may be assigned.
- Complete all tasks assigned by QC manager.
- Ensure that all production practices adhere to the company’s Quality System Manual (QSM)
- Be familiar with PCI MNL 116 & 117 and ASTM standards.
- Thoroughly understand all quality control procedures throughout the entire production process:
- Pre-pour Inspection
- Stripping Inspection
- Post-pour Inspection
- Finish & Patching Inspection
- Communicate between Design Engineers and the Production Department to provide solutions during any drafting or product design errors (revisions)
- Communicate all necessary information between QC and batch plant personnel (moistures, mix suggestions, etc.)
- Assist ALL quality control inspectors with any design and/or drafting errors.
- Collect and organize all defects and concrete data.
- Complete plastic and hardened concrete reports.
- Tracking defect data
- Review quality control procedures and guidelines to ensure optimum product quality.
- Enforce quality control practices throughout the entire production process:
- Pre- and Post-Pour Setup
- Reinforcement Fabrication
- Finishing and Repairs
- Conduct panel inventory audits
- Assist with optimization or development of concrete mix designs
- Fabricate concrete samples for potential projects.
- Manage and maintain calibrations for all testing and production equipment.
- Generate concrete reports and/or submittals for current projects.
- Develop new testing procedures and equipment.
Requirements
Knowledge/ Skills
- Strong computer skills needed; Microsoft Office and Excel Skills required.
- Good mathematical aptitude
- Ability to read/interpret construction documents and technical journals is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exhibits good work ethic and decision making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Concrete related experience preferred.
- ACI certification to complete within first 6 months of employment.
- Strong leadership skills
- Material testing and laboratory experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must Be able to start at 3 am.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb up onto or down from equipment.
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders and walk lengthy distances in an industrial setting It will be necessary to work in outside conditions that can include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
