REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Community Fundraising – DMV

COMPENSATION: $70,000-$80,000 annual salary; Healthcare benefits are available for this role.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Community Fundraising Manager (DMV) supports the Executive Director of Community Fundraising in executing fundraising strategies and initiatives within a specific geographic region. This role focuses on implementing volunteer-led, staff-supported community focused strategies   to drive revenue growth, cultivate strong relationships with volunteer fundraisers, and ensure successful execution of Alliance fundraising events and activities. The Manager plays a hands-on role in coordinating day-to-day fundraising operations, including recruiting and stewarding volunteer fundraisers, securing local sponsorships, and fostering community engagement to advance the Alliance’s mission.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Fundraising Execution & Support

  • Implement regional community fundraising strategies developed in partnership with the Executive Director to meet or exceed annual revenue goals.
  • Manage the planning and execution of local Alliance fundraising events and DIY fundraising initiatives.
  • Identify, recruit, and activate volunteer fundraisers to participate in Alliance events and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Community Fundraising Operations Manager to ensure smooth event logistics, accurate data tracking, and post-event follow-up.
     
     

Volunteer Engagement & Stewardship

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteer fundraisers, providing consistent communication, coaching, and recognition to sustain and broaden their support.
  • Support the development and leadership of volunteer committees, ensuring they are empowered and equipped to lead event functions.
  • Provide volunteers with tools, resources, and training materials to maximize fundraising success.
     
     

Community & Sponsor Development

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with local sponsors, businesses, and community organizations to secure financial and in-kind support.
  • Engage community partners in events and mission-related activities to deepen connections to the Alliance.
  • Represent the Alliance at community functions, networking events, and meetings to raise awareness and expand the organization’s presence.
     
     

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Mission, Operations) to ensure alignment on messaging, branding, and event execution.
  • Support the Executive Director in tracking and reporting on key performance indicators, budget adherence, and fundraising outcomes.
  • Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures and best practices for community fundraising.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit fundraising, event management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising, community engagement, or volunteer management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting fundraising goals and managing events.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, and corporate partners.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a remote team, and follow through on plans in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by events and volunteer needs.

 

SALARY RANGE:

Competitive non-profit salary, typically ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, based on experience and qualifications.
