Position Title: VICE PRESIDENT-Health and Safety
Location: HOUSTON, TX
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Position Summary: The Vice President of Health & Safety (HS) is the strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing VoltaGrid’s vision for a safe, healthy, and responsible workplace across all business units and geographies. This role sets enterprise-wide HS strategy, ensures regulatory compliance, drives innovation, and embeds safety principles into business operations. The VP partners with executive leadership to integrate HS into business strategy, risk management, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership 

    • Develop and implement a long-term HS strategy aligned with VoltaGrid’s mission and operational goals. 
    • Advise the CEO, COO, and senior leadership on HS risks, opportunities, and best practices. 
    • Champion a proactive, safety-first culture across the organization.

Enterprise HS Management

    • Oversee development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all health and safety, programs across operations. 
    • Ensure full compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations, as well as voluntary industry standards.

Risk and Crisis Management

    • Identify and assess enterprise-level risks related to HS and develop robust risk mitigation and contingency plans. 
    • Lead HS crisis response and serve as the executive sponsor for incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and systemic corrective actions. 
    • Provide oversight and assurance for regulatory inspections, audits, and stakeholder engagements.

Performance and Reporting

    • Establish enterprise-wide HS performance metrics and KPIs, ensuring regular reporting to the executive team, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. 
    • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, improve decision-making, and measure program effectiveness.

Leadership and Talent Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HS leadership team, fostering an environment of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. 
    • Build organizational capability through training, leadership development, and succession planning for critical HS roles.

Stakeholder Engagement

    • Represent VoltaGrid with customers, industry groups, community organizations, and other external stakeholders on HS matters. 
    • Partner with Operations, Engineering, HR, and other departments to integrate HS into all phases of project planning, execution, and lifecycle management.

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field. 
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent is highly desirable. 
  • 15+ years of progressive HS leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive or enterprise-level leadership role. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing enterprise-wide HS strategies in complex, multi-site, or high-risk industries. 
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. 
  • Proven track record of building high-performing teams and fostering a strong safety culture.
