Our Proesis Bio Raleigh team is looking to add a qualified, caring, and precise Lead Donor Advocate (Phlebotomist) to our team. This role functions as the department supervisor for the Donor Advocate position, responsible for the oversight of training, process flow, and the execution of employee work assignments as directed by Center Leadership. All Donor Advocates in the center are expected to provide excellent customer service to donors and easily collaborate with other team members. This position works cohesively with every team member to ensure a safe and meaningful donation process. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions as the department supervisor for the Donor Advocate position. Responsible for the oversight of employee training, process flow, and the execution of employee work assignments as directed by the Center Leadership Team.
- Determination of donor suitability, including detailed review of donor intake documentation via Blood Establishment Computer System
- Conducts pre-donation medical screening, including determination of donor vital signs; responsible for the aseptic collection of blood sample via finger stick to determine donor Hematocrit and Total Protein
- Promotes positive and engaging donor experience via customer-focused interaction; may be responsible for communicating donor deferral due to out of limits screening results.
- Responsible for apheresis machine set-up process, including the detailed review of donor screening records to ensure donor safety is not compromised.
- Performs venipuncture with aseptic technique, including the use of both butterfly and straight needles; successfully initiates apheresis process while maintaining product integrity and donor comfort.
- Monitors donor during apheresis process and maintains donor-to-employee ratio per Code of Federal Regulations; reports all unexpected events per company procedure including Donor Adverse Events (DAE)
- Evaluates and troubleshoots machine technical errors per company-approved procedures and machine operator's manual.
- Successfully discontinues apheresis process at the end of the donation cycle; promptly tends to donor care procedures and ensures product is delivered to processing area within designated timeframe.
- Processes plasma units within allotted timeframe, to include the review of worksheet data and physical unit sampling as required by routine sample collection procedure.
- Ensures product integrity is maintained through aseptic processing technique and timely storage in designated freezer.
- Maintains positive donor interaction and customer-first attitude during all events; builds rapport with donors to ensure donor satisfaction and donor retention.
- Maintains strict safety-first mentality; reports all safety concerns, including donor safety, employee safety, and facilities safety observations to center management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- All employees of Proesis Biologics must have a High School Diploma or recognized equivalency.
- Available to work flexible and/or extended shifts as needed by Center Management
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
- Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
- Available to travel as necessary for special projects.
- Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
- Demonstrated ability to work with computer-based applications and software.
- Demonstrated history of working in compliance-driven environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- The employee may be required to enter an environment with temperatures lower than -25°C for short periods of time.
- Ability to push, tug, lift, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Be able to bend, stoop or kneel.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. All employees within the Donor Center will be subjected to repeated use of their hands to perform dexterous tasks. Hearing acuity is essential. Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions.
