Job Summary
The Vice President of Finance will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring active involvement in day-to-day accounting and financial management while also serving as a key member of the executive leadership team.
The Vice President of Finance will provide strategic financial guidance to support project execution, business development, and long-term growth objectives. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with experience in project-based financial management and a track record of optimizing financial processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy and Leadership
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s revenue, profitability, and risk management goals, including long-term planning and capital structure optimization.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support project delivery and overall business planning.
- Financial Reporting
Deliver accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, providing actionable insights to the executive team and department heads.
- Project Financial Management
Monitor and analyze the financial performance of individual projects, ensuring cost control, profitability, and adherence to contract terms and milestones.
- Cash Flow and Treasury Management
Direct cash management strategies, maintain banking and financing relationships, and ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and future investments.
- Finance Technology Leadership
Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial tools, ERP systems, and automation technologies to improve financial accuracy, transparency, and scalability.
- Strategic Business Partnership
Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and operational leaders, leveraging financial data to inform decisions on pricing, investment, resource allocation, and business growth.
- Team Leadership and Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and succession planning.
- Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws, audits, and internal control standards. Proactively manage financial risk through policy development and oversight.
- Process Optimization
Streamline financial processes, workflows, and reporting structures to improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making capabilities across the organization.
- Investor and Stakeholder Relations
Prepare and present financial results, KPIs, and strategic insights to the Board of Directors, lenders, investors, and key external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 8–12 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior role (e.g., Controller, Director of Finance).
- Experience in a project-driven environment such as construction, consulting, or professional services is strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial modeling, and compliance best practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring a finance team in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in Excel and ERP platforms; experience implementing financial systems or automation tools a plus.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to analyze complex data and present clear strategic recommendations.
- Proven experience collaborating with executive teams and external partners (e.g., auditors, banks, investors).
