About the Department
Under the general supervision of the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting in the operations of the Apex Center Weight Room.
- Responsible for ensuring the daily maintenance of all strength, cardiovascular and fitness equipment is conducted.
- Maintenance includes cleaning of equipment and limited preventative maintenance. Assist in all setup/tear down of Fitness Special Events including SilverSneakers® events, Group Fitness events and workshops.
- Conducts regular weight room walk-throughs to ensure cleanliness and ensure patron compliancy. Supports Admission Desk staff and assists with check-in, customer service questions when needed.
- Conducts youth weight room orientations to familiarize prospective youth patrons with weight room rules, policies and procedures ensuring safety for themselves and other patrons.
- Answers customer questions as it relates to Fitness/Wellness programming including drop-in and specialty fitness programming, personal training and rock wall programs and services.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary facility. These tasks include trash removal, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and dusting.
- Help assist in general fitness questions including equipment demonstration. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Position Duties
- Minimum hiring age: 16.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required upon hire.
- Must be able to provide excellent guest service to participants in the program and members and guests of Apex Park and Recreation.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively when enforcing policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned areas and make judgments related to safety.
Other Qualifications
- Must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina, and flexibility to lift, carry, or move various objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work while crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, or assisting children for extended periods.
- Must have sufficient hearing to be able to hear and discriminate differing sounds in a variety of situations.
- Sufficient vision to discriminate between colors, sizes, and types of objects and people, both close and distant.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
