Our Strategy Office plays a critical role in shaping the company’s long-term direction. Over the past years, we’ve built a high-performing team composed of liner shipping professionals and top-tier management consultants. Together, we work on the most pressing strategic priorities for the company and drive impactful transformation across the organization.
We operate at the intersection of strategy development and execution. Our mandate includes evaluating strategic business development opportunities, designing and guiding the company’s long-term strategic roadmap, and managing enterprise-wide transformation programs. We also serve as internal consultants, providing hands-on support and thought leadership to senior and top management across diverse topics.

Responsibilities
Drive key strategic initiatives by independently leading project modules or contributing to high impact workstreams within larger programs such as corporate transformations, M&A activities, or post-merger integrations
Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess complex business challenges, develop insights, craft innovative solutions and prepare senior and top management decisions that shape Hapag-Lloyd’s long-term direction
Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders, including Hapag-Lloyd’s senior and top executives, external consultants, and advisors – operating as a trusted partner and sparring partner in a “leading from behind” capacity
Establish effective project governance by designing and managing steering structures, reporting frameworks, and visibility mechanisms for ongoing strategy and transformation initiatives
Contribute to the company’s strategic lifecycle by providing thought leadership on key commercial and operational topics, conducting competitor assessments, and analyzing market dynamics
Qualifications
Capability and passion to plan, manage, and implement projects – practical and conceptual knowledge and skill in project management is an essential skill for this position
Excellent academic track record with a university degree in economics, business, logistics, finance, engineering, or a comparable discipline (or equivalent qualification)
Highly driven and results-oriented, with a strong bias for action and a track record of getting things done
Exceptional analytical skills with a structured, inventive mindset and strong business acumen
Initial experience in strategy development, transformation programs, M&A (e.g. due diligence or deal execution), or post-merger integration is a strong plus
Confident and effective communicator – capable of engaging with stakeholders across all levels, including senior and top management, in a collaborative yet assertive manner when needed
Strong visualization skills combined with the ability to tell a compelling story in written documents and presentations
Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
