GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK |
Performs intermediate professional and administrative work assisting in the planning, development and implementation of total instructional program in Science K-12, STEM, and Computer Science; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the Coordinator of Science/STEM. |
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires, walking, and repetitive motions; voice communication is required for expressing and exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, preparing and analyzing written and computer data, determining the accuracy and the thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions and hazards. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS |

Align curriculum and instruction with state standards and division goals. Provide coaching and professional development for teachers. Support effective instructional strategies that promote engagement and achievement. Oversee science assessments and use data to inform instruction. Promote equitable access to computer science and computational thinking. Facilitate instructional committees and professional learning sessions. Collaborate on strategic planning and school improvement efforts. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES |
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. |
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred. Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education, Middle School Science, or High School Science. Minimum of 3 years of successful science teaching experience. Instructional leadership experience preferred. |
EQUIPMENT |
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and telephone. |
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Travel) |
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. |
