The Withdrawal Management (WM) Nurse Manager provides direct nursing care to patients and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities on the WM unit. Ensures nursing personnel deliver nursing care within scope of practices. Coordinates care delivery, which will ensure that patient’s needs are met in accordance with professional standards of practice through provider orders, facility policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local guidelines by both nursing and support staff.
Position Logistics
- Minimum of 37.5 hours a week (5-day work week)
- Routinely 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM shifts Monday – Friday
- Work hours and schedule are determined by supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Managerial:
- Manage the day-to-day operations, including staffing, scheduling, training, development and staff supervision.
- Adjusts daily schedule for illness, emergency, census changes. Documents all sick calls, tardiness, absenteeism, and other instances where policy is not followed.
- Delegates effectively and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes. Accepts responsibility and accountability for clinical care.
- A willingness to work flexible hours to provide adequate coverage, staff oversight and has On Call responsibilities. May also function as back-up during temporary absences and/or vacancies.
- Manages appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitors equipment maintenance.
- Develops quality assurance and key performance indicator program to track and drive team performance.
- Utilizes staffing agencies on an as-needed basis in a fiscally responsible manner.
Patient-Centered Care:
- Oversee admissions including performing initial nursing admission assessments (NAH-SAE, CIWA, COWS, and nursing care plan) and screening clients via telephone or walk-in to determine if admission criteria are met and refer to appropriate level of care.
- Signs off on assessment information for all LPNs.
- Evaluates nursing care and patient needs by regular rounding.
- Reviews patient complaints and uses professional judgement along with policies to manage complex patient decisions.
- Reorder medication as needed to continue stock.
Organizational Leadership
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with peers.
- Communicates pertinent information to all shifts and necessary internal stakeholders.
- Serves as a role model in all aspects of job performance and human relations skills.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum: Licensure by the South Carolina Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Board to practice as an LPN with at least 4 years of acute care experience and 2 years of supervisory/lead/unit nurse experience. (Experience may be concurrent.)
- Experience within substance misuse and/or withdrawal management preferred.

- License to practice in South Carolina
- Current CPR Certification
