We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for Alloy Engineering and Mach3 in our Berea, OH location. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and partnering closely with operations leadership to drive performance, efficiency, and profitability. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing accounting expertise, strong business acumen, and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
Essential Functions:
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Oversee all plant accounting functions in compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to corporate finance, plant leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain robust cost accounting processes to support operational decision-making.
- Prepare and analyze rolling cash flow forecasts and identify opportunities to optimize liquidity.
Operations Partnership
- Collaborate with plant managers, operations, and supply chain teams to monitor performance metrics, drive cost control initiatives, and identify process improvements.
- Provide actionable financial insights to support strategic decisions, operational planning, and capital investment projects.
- Actively participate in plant leadership meetings, challenging and supporting operational leaders to achieve business goals.
Compliance & Controls
- Manage annual audits (corporate, statutory, and tax) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.
- Liaise with tax advisors, auditors, banks, and other external partners.
Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to build a high-performing, engaged finance team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance in this role will be measured by:
- Financial Accuracy & Timeliness – On-time delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting with zero material errors.
- Cost Control & Efficiency – Demonstrated reduction in manufacturing variances, overhead, and scrap rates through financial and operational initiatives.
- Cash Flow Optimization – Accuracy of rolling 13-week cash forecasts and improvement in working capital metrics (inventory turns, DSO, DPO).
- Audit & Compliance – Successful completion of audits with no significant findings or control deficiencies.
- Operational Partnership – Evidence of financial insights driving operational decisions and measurable plant performance improvements.
- Team Development – Employee engagement scores, retention, and skill growth within the finance team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership, including 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in cost accounting, plant financial management, and operational collaboration.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing ERP systems (experience with Visibility software a plus).
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and partner at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
