Job Summary: Under the direction of the Building Administrator and classroom teacher, is responsible for supporting the elementary educational process. Paraeducators assist students with the unique needs outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP). This vital role involves providing direct support to students, helping them access their education through academic support, behavior management, and fostering independence. While you may work one-on-one with a student or within small groups, it is important to note that assignments are not fixed to specific students. Staff members are assigned based on current needs and teacher discretion, which allows us to adapt and reassign support to maximize effectiveness for all students. This position requires effective collaboration with other staff to implement necessary accommodations and strategies that promote student success. Students Served: Students with reading, writing, math, self-regulation and/or social goals who are on an academic track and do not require specialized life skills instruction or intensive behavior support.

Salary Range: $25.29 - $28.74 Paraeducator A per 2024-25 Public School Employees Salary Schedule (Anticipated salary increase effective September 1, 2025.)
Above pay rates do not include holiday and pay in lieu of vacation, which increases the hourly compensation.

Work Schedule:

Start Date: September 3, 2025
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Paid Hours: 5.25 hours per day
Lunch Break: 30 minutes unpaid break
Calendar: 9 months/year; enjoy time off during spring break, winter break and summer, plus 10 paid holidays

Qualifications:

Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, and meet one (1) of the following:
1. Have received a score of 455 on the ETS ParaPro (https://www.ets.org/parapro),or a qualifying score on the Pearson Paraprofessional assessment or Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Training Program;
2. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
3. Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
Upon hire, must complete the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS)-Paraeducator Certificate.
First Aid/CPR with AED certificate, provided at time of hire.
Ability to meet the qualifications as listed on the job description for this position.

Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
