Responsibilities:
- Assist Junior School Instructors with classroom set up and clean up
- During class, assist Instructors with distributing supplies, collecting completed work, and assisting students who need special help with projects
- Remain alert to the needs of the instructor and the students.
- Additional responsibilities include assisting staff in supervising students in the (summer) lunch room and at student drop-off and pick-up, as well as escorting young students to and from classrooms, the lunch room, restrooms, and monitoring hallways.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
General Classroom
- Able to follow verbal instruction and enjoy a variety of duties
- Must be punctual, reliable and able to remain active for long periods of time
- Patience and a calm demeanor are required
- Familiarity with art materials and processes a plus
Fashion Design
- In addition to general classroom abilities, ability to use a sewing machine and demonstrate this skill to others is a plus
- Knowledge of hand sewing is desirable
Ceramics
- In addition to general classroom abilities, familiarity with hand building processes and glazes is a plus
- Must be willing to learn the correct way to load (but not fire) a kiln
Education and Experience:
- High school students who are at least 15 years of age may apply
- Current or former Junior School student, or experience working with children preferred
