Objectives of this Role:
The Community Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in the successful implementation and expansion of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs aimed at addressing Opioid Use Disorders (OUD). This position requires a dedicated individual with excellent communication skills, cultural competence, and a deep understanding of substance use disorders and community dynamics. This role is essential in reducing stigma, increasing treatment engagement, and ultimately improving health outcomes for individuals with Opioid Use Disorders. The Community Outreach Specialist acts as a bridge between the healthcare system and the community, fostering trust and collaboration to combat the opioid epidemic effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage diverse community populations affected by OUD. Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and local stakeholders to promote awareness of MAT services. Conduct educational sessions and workshops to inform the community about opioid addiction, treatment options, and available resources. Identify and address barriers to treatment access, including stigma, transportation, and socioeconomic factors. Assist individuals in navigating the healthcare system, including enrollment in MAT programs and connecting with support services. Gather community feedback and data to inform program improvements and outreach efforts. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure culturally sensitive and effective communication with clients. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and community interactions for reporting purposes.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in community outreach, public health, or substance use disorder programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of opioid use disorder, medication-assisted treatment, and local community resources. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations.
