PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Mechanical Engineer position is a critical role within the Products team supporting low voltage and medium voltage power distribution products.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The role is responsible for providing mechanical designs ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and product requirements.
The Mechanical Engineer position will include the following functions:
- Support mechanical engineering activities for mechanical line maintenance and new line extension for existing products including:
- Complete detailed mechanical designs for Pre-Engineered products
- Support mechanical design for New Product Introductions (as needed)
- Mechanical CAR responses with support from R&D and Mech Design teams.
- Collaborate with other IEM departments including Operations, Engineering, and NPI team to ensure mechanical design activities are aligned support industrialization of products.
- Direct coordination with Products team to align priorities and deliverables.
- Support Extraction of Mechanical BOM changes for ERP updates
- Support Manufacturing Engineering with Work Instruction input for any Mechanical Design changes released to manufacturing
- Coordination with Design-To-Order Mechanical Engineering department for design standards & processes, and PDM alignment.
COMPETENCIES:
- Competency with medium and low voltage switchgear products design and manufacturing, including knowledge of industry standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of CAD software and analysis tools. (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
- Ability to be flexible with multi-tasking and changing priorities.
- Ability to collaborate and work through ambiguity
- Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 4-year degree in Mechanical engineering or related science field.
- Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in the power distribution equipment or close-related industry.
