The Role:Senior Associates within our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice serve on various engagement teams that support a wide range of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture-backed startups.
Senior Associates can expect to:
- Prepare and assist with the review of state and local tax returns, including income/franchise, pass-through entity elective tax, etc.;
- Provide tax controversy audit support;
- Assist in project management of compliance/consulting engagements and identify client solutions;
- Conduct research to remain current with legislative changes;
- Draft and review memoranda and additional client deliverables;
- Assist with the preparation and review of Nexus Studies;
- Supervise and mentor Associates and Interns;
- Receive formal State & Local tax training, on the job training, direct feedback from top tax leaders, and the opportunity to pursue additional training through internal and external resources.

The Requirements:
- 2+ years of relevant tax experience;
- Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree such as MAcc, MST, or JD) with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Advanced credential or desire to obtain advanced credential allowing for IRS client representation (i.e. CPA, JD);
- Familiarity with multistate corporate income/franchise and/or pass-through entity tax compliance;
- Proficient in Excel and tax software such as OneSource, GoSystem, Corptax, or similar;
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills;
- Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; and
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines. For individuals hired to work in McLean, VA or Washington DC, the expected salary range for this role is $94,700 to $122,400 ; the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.

We offer paid time off, beginning at 160 hours annually and provides twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Compensation: In addition to competitive base compensation, our firm offers annual discretionary bonuses based on firm and individual performance, a discretionary long-term cash incentive program, and other forms of discretionary compensation that would be offered to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range scale.
