JOB SUMMARY: Plans, develops and manages a focused program to cultivate, solicit and steward a selected list of major gift prospects, with a focus on Corporations and Foundations, targeted for $10,000- $1,000,000 gifts for agency initiatives. Collaborates with other team members on cultivation and stewardship of donors with the intent to grow donors into major giving prospects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  1. Works with the Director of Philanthropy and Grants Manager to formulate and execute annual plans and strategies for achieving the agency’s major gift goals with corporations and foundations.
  2. Plans, develops and oversees the implementation of personalized strategies for major portfolio donors at the $10,000 to $1,000,000 + and higher levels, collaborating where appropriate with the Major Gifts Officer.
  3. Manages a portfolio of 100-150 major giving prospects, including corporations, foundations, and individuals associated with them, developing and implementing plans for cultivation and solicitation of these prospects in collaboration with board members, appropriate volunteers, agency directors and development staff.
  4. Conducts face to face meetings with donors monthly according to agreed-upon goals which deepens the relationship with the organization.
  5. Uses moves management process for tracking the cultivation and solicitation of gifts relative to all sponsorship and proposal initiatives, including strategy, gift level, solicitation time frame, and records results in Raiser’s Edge.
  6. Strategizes with volunteers and/or board members to meet with prospects for cultivation of major gifts and corporate/foundation connections.
  7. Actively expands the prospective donor base through prospect identification and research, including discernment of appropriate fit for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and values.
  8. Responsible for raising a specific dollar goal as agreed upon with the Director of Philanthropy.
  9. Direct acknowledgements of major donors by board and staff, as appropriate.
  10. Works as a development team member to promote positive work environment and assists with special events, volunteer cultivation opportunities and refers leads to the other Philanthropy Team members, including annual giving, Hope Society, and planned giving.
  11. Responsible for creating corporate sponsorship levels with corresponding benefits, with personalization to our various program areas of interest.
  12. Drafts sponsorship proposals together with Marketing team and Grants Manager, to promise deliverables of branding and cross-promotions in accordance with the values and business objectives of the company and foundations.
  13. Attends and contributes to monthly major gifts meetings to ensure all staff involved in direct fundraising are engaged and on track to meet their individual fundraising goals; assists Major Gifts Officer in providing direction/guidance for moves management; assign and manage portfolios for direct fundraising staff. 
  14. Assists in planning and coordination of donor stewardship, cultivation and recognition events, receptions, and activities to promote donor engagement including volunteer opportunities together with the Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager.
  15. Collaborates with Grants Manager on mid-year or annual reports needed with corporate and foundation giving guidelines and related grants expectations.
  16. Assists Donor Development Officer with existing relationships such as sports teams foundations, and collaborates on new partnerships executing deliverables and volunteer opportunities.
  17. Represents the Agency in external meetings, seminars and programs, including in corporate environments.
  18. Participates in management meetings, agency events and other activities within the general scope and nature of position.
  19. Supervise and manage assigned staff, when relevant, in accordance with agency personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, guidance, etc. 
  20. Participate in the process of ongoing personal and professional development. 
  21. Maintain comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external).
  22. Model professional standards and ethics in accordance with agency philosophy.
  23. Participate in and support PQI initiatives to include attending appropriate program leadership meetings and attending all relevant PQI meetings to ensure organization-wide involvement in PQI and the development of program performance measurements.  Supervisors must also develop and provide appropriate staff training and support the recognition of accomplishments relative to PQI.
  24. Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
  25. Performs other development duties as assigned

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.       Education /Background:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business or related field and/or completion of a fundraising certification program. CFRE – Certified Fund Raising Executive certification preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible fund raising experience in a non-profit organization, including corporate donors and foundation relations.

2.       Job Knowledge: Commitment to the agency’s mission. Demonstrated experience with Major Gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, particularly with corporations and foundations.  Achievement oriented. A desire to set challenging objectives for self and others; to meet deadlines; to find better and more efficient ways to do things; and to compete against a self-defined standard of excellence.  Teamwork and cooperation. The ability to develop cooperation and teamwork within a group or team by cooperating, seeking the input of group members, encouraging their cooperation, keeping them informed, finding ways to reduce conflict within the group and finding solutions that may benefit all involved parties.  Professional presence.  Strong people skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.  Proficiency in computer usage, including MS Office Suite, Adobe creative suite and Google suite of products. Knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge (preferred) or similar fundraising database software. Ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents. Experience working with corporate CSRs and drafting sponsorship marketing agreements is highly recommended.

3.      Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Must be able to visually and auditory interact with clients and staff. Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time.  Requires work outside of the office and some travel within the state. Requires some evening and weekend work on occasion. May lift up to 10 pounds.

4.      Other requirements:

a.    Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.

b.    You must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.

       c.    Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.



Salary range - $75,000-$85,000/annually DOE


The position is hybrid. With the option to work out of the Philanthropy Team office at Rosewood Court, this role is expected to be externally facing regularly meeting donors and attending community events as appropriate. Therefore, an option to telecommute is possible to align with these expectations.
