In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

Housing Community Assistants (HCAs) are part-time student workers employed to work in the Office of Housing and Residential Education to assist with administrative tasks.

Start Date: Fall 2025 August 25, 2025

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Housing Community Assistant (HCA) student employee will:

  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, responding to resident lockouts, and acting as a referral agent in the Housing Office.

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for Move-In Day and Hall Closing. HCAs will assist with key packets, room checks, crowd control and other move-in and hall closing related functions.

  • Work as a team member with other HCAs, Housing and Residential Education staff, and other campus partners such as Campus Life, Maintenance, and Public Safety.

  • Attend all required trainings and should not have travel reservations or other vacation plans that may conflict with training. HCAs will be given specific dates and times for training for the purpose of personal scheduling/planning.

  • Be responsible for a maximum of 10 office hours each week and will work with the Assistant Director for Residential and Housing Operations, or their designee, to create a work schedule.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Meet all Student Employment eligibility requirements (including a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, and good disciplinary standing with Community Standards)

  • Possess strong time management skills (i.e. arriving to work shifts and completing tasks on time)

  • Possess strong communication skills (i.e. able to respond to emails, answer phone calls, answer in-person questions and referrals)

 

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

This section is optional, and should include skills/qualities you would like the candidate to have, but are not required to perform the duties.

  • Have lived in an on-campus residence hall at Berklee (Boston campus) for at least one academic semester

  • Possess a strong understanding of residence life and campus resources at Berklee

Expected Hours Per Week: Up to 10 hours per week (maximum)

Expected dates and times of shifts: Monday-Fridays 9:00am-5:00pm
