The City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is seeking a self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment responsible for performing difficult and complex electrical and instrumentation/control installation and repair on Water and Water Reclamation Facilities; supervising entry and journey-level electrical and instrumentation technicians and lead workers involved in the preventative maintenance, adjustment, repair, and overhaul, replacement, and installation of electrical and instrumentation apparatus and related equipment and devices; performing other duties as directed by the Electrical Services Superintendent; ensuring work is completed following appropriate and applicable provisions of the Electric code, approved plans and specifications, and standard industry practices.
The class of Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor is a single position class in the Electrical, Instrumentation and SCADA series. The position receives supervision from the Electrical Services Superintendent. Incumbents are responsible for assisting the superintendent in formulating and developing section goals and objections, supervising assigned personnel, and directing day-to-day activities.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Instrumentation and Control Systems, or closely related science, and two years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic instrumentation maintenance and repair (utility/industrial applications preferred).

Position Duties
Education and Experience: High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation and Control Systems, or closely related science, and four (4) years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic instrumentation maintenance and repair (utility/industrial applications preferred).
Or
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Instrumentation and Control Systems, or closely related science, and two (2) years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic instrumentation maintenance and repair (utility/industrial applications preferred).
Or
High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and eight (8) years of journey-level experience in electrical systems and electronic instrumentation installation, maintenance and repair, two (2) years of which must be in a supervisory capacity or four (4) years in a lead capacity (utility/industrial applications preferred).
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license required upon application. For out-of-state applicants, a valid driver’s license is required and a valid California Class “C” driver’s license is required within ten (10) days of appointment (CA Vehicle Code 12505c).
An employee within this classification may be designated as a “key responder” and as such shall be required to respond to non-normal working hour emergency operational conditions.
Must be able to respond to call-outs or emergencies including being on-call.
Must be clean shaven or have trimmed facial hair in order to properly use personal respirators and SCBA equipment. Must pass a respirator medical exam and be physically able to wear SCBA equipment. Must be able to work in enclosed spaces while wearing protective clothing under extreme temperatures and hazardous environments.
Other Qualifications
Work involves exposure to potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals and infectious disease. There is frequent need to stand, sit, stoop, walk and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Employee accommodations for physical or mental disabilities will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in a variety of environmental and weather conditions, transport materials and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds, work in boom truck with lift of 30 to 60 feet and work to heights of 150 feet. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. Must be able to hear in the normalaudio range with or without correction.
