The Vice President of Accounting plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all corporate and hotel-level financial operations. This position ensures timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting, leads a high-performing team, and partners closely with operations, ownership groups, and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee the accounting function across all hotel and corporate entities, ensuring accurate monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and cash flow management.
- Partner with the SVP and executive leadership to support business growth, acquisition onboarding, and financial forecasting.
- Serve as the financial liaison with hotel ownership groups, private equity partners, and external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement scalable financial systems, process improvements, and internal controls to support rapid company growth.
- Lead financial due diligence for new acquisitions or transitions.
Team Management & Development
- Directly manage the Sr. Director of Accounting and indirectly oversee Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to foster a high-accountability, high-collaboration culture.
- Assess team structure regularly to align with company growth and complexity.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure GAAP compliance, tax reporting accuracy, and adherence to internal control standards.
- Manage internal and external audits, working closely with auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain policies and procedures that ensure data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee month-end close processes across all hotel entities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Lead the preparation and review of property-level and consolidated financial statements.
- Support the budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning processes across the portfolio.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and Operations to ensure cross-functional alignment in financial data and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership, with at least 3 years in a VP or Controller role.
- Experience overseeing multi-entity hospitality operations (hotel management company or ownership group strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with hospitality-specific systems such as M3, ProfitSword, BirchStreet, and brand reporting platforms (e.g., Marriott, Hilton).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams through change and growth.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in presenting financials to ownership groups and executives.
- Hands-on, proactive leadership style with an ability to toggle between strategy and execution.
