Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant will provide assistance to the daily operations of Chinese Language Programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responds to phone calls, hosts visitors, and provides administrative assistance for events related to the Chinese Language Programs (CLP).

  • Translates promotional and educational materials for CLP.

  • Answers students� various inquiries.

  • Facilitate course delievery.

  • Communicate between students, professors and various offices at the Seminary.

  • Works to connect prospective and current students, alumni, and SWBTS with the global Chinese Christian community.

  • Assists with office coordination, including collaboration with other seminary departments.

  • Designs newsletters and other promotional resources for the CLP.

  • Supports planning and execution of CLP-related events and initiatives.

  • It is the employee and supervisor�s shared responsibility to regularly meet to discuss performance, suggest job description updates and set mutually beneficial goals.

  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the team and institutional goals.

Specific Skills and Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in or have completed a bachelor�s degree or higher.

  • Required: Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken).

  • Preferred: Experience in Christian ministry or theological education.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Basic translation and interpretation skills.

  • Understanding of Chinese Christian culture and theological context.

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks with attention to detail and timely execution.

  • Collaborative, humble, and team-oriented working spirit.

  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and commitment to personal growth in ministry effectiveness.

  • Seeks the Lord in all aspects of work and decision-making.

  • Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification and credit check may be required.

  • Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.

Physical Requirements

  • Works in an office environment.

  • Sits for extended periods of time.

  • Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.

  • Uses keyboard devices and a computer monitor.

  • Utilizes analytical capabilities to gather data, provide support and resolve conflicts.

  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.
