Guthrie County Hospital has an opening for a full-time Physical Therapist. This is a new position that will have the opportunity to work at both our facility with our out patient, and in patient population, as well as collaborate with our local school district as the Athletic Trainer on an occasional basis.


This role will work an average of 40 hours per week within the department hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, combined with evening hours as needed for sporting events. This position reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.


JOB SUMMARY: Administers therapeutic treatments utilizing physical agents, biomechanical and neurophysiological principles and assistive devices in relieving pain, restoring maximum functions and preventing disability following disease or injury.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate, plan, and administer treatment to patients in accordance with physician orders and accepted standards of professional practice.
  • Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans.
  • Complete and submit timely and accurate rehabilitation assessment.
  • Evaluate treatment efficacy and patient profess and make any necessary adjustments in the care plan to optimize patient care.
  • Work with local schools providing education and therapy to student athletes during sporting events.
  • Educate family and/or support system to functional needs and equipment/resources to meet those needs.
  • Utilize objective measurements to assess effectiveness of treatment interventions.
  • Incorporate plans for discharge in treatment plan in collaboration with patient and support system.
  • Maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department.
  • Accept responsibility for inpatient’s care and environment throughout his/her transfer and treatment in and out of the P.T. Department.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistant treatments and communicate care plans with PTA.
  • Perform and maintain documentation in a timely manner.
  • Document accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status that reflect nursing interventions, patient responses, patient teaching and status of outcomes at discharge.
  • Report any adverse response to treatments.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, plan of care, patient satisfaction needs and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and emphasis on quantity, quality, and knowledge of duties and tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy
  • Current Physical Therapy licensure in the State of Iowa
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
