MISSION
To plan, direct, or coordinate the transportation operations of the manufacturing division in order to safely facilitate the delivery and pickup of customer tires for transportation to/from Purcell Tire retread plants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinate with Retread Plant and DC for daily routes
- Communicate with our sales managers, customers & drivers for direct customer routes
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of company vehicles (trucks, vans, etc)
- Meet with Service Department daily regarding truck and trailer repairs/service (requires familiarity with truck & trailer equipment)
- Schedule regular inspections, repairs & compliance checks
- Coordinate 24/7 "help line" for drivers
- Select, negotiate with and manage relationships with third-party carriers or logistics providers
- Monitor carrier performance and resolve service issues
- Leased/Rental equipment - bid & negotiate rental/lease agreements and renewals
- Monitor fuel, labor, maintenance and other transportation costs
- Prepare and manage transportation budgets
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with local, national and international regulations (e.g. DOT, OSHA)
- Must be knowledgeable of DOT - Fed Motor Carrier Regulations including IFTA and other required filings
- Maintain proper documentation such as driver logs, permits and safety records
- International customs experience preferred (Canada)
- Work with Purcell Safety Department for Driver Safety Procedures
- Investigate accidents, delays and transportation-related complaints
- Generate repots on delivery times, costs, performance metrics, etc.
- Recommend improvements based on data analysis
- Maximizing the use of available space within vehicles to reduce the number of trips and lower transportation costs

DRUG TESTING
Purcell Tire tests for the presence of THC in all drug screenings for this position, due to the safety-sensitive nature of the job and the potential for injury or death when a tire is installed improperly, or a safety-related mechanical issue is not properly conveyed to a customer. It is a bona fide occupational qualification for service technicians to be unimpaired, so the Company will continue testing for THC and other drugs under the safety-sensitive exceptions allowed by your state.
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum Job-Specific Experience: 6-10 years
- Management Experience: 3-5 years
- Driver’s License Required: Must have valid Drivers License. CDL preferred but not required.

- Computers and Programs — Knowledge and proficient use of computer hardware and software (AS400, Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint, Accounting software)
- Typing – Ability to type at 55 wpm
- Phone Systems – Ability to operate phone systems for the effective communication of information to interested parties
- Truck & Trailer – The ability to safely drive a truck and trailer including maneuvering turns, stopping the vehicle, driving on the highway, driving in communities, and backing the truck and trailer to a dock.
