Education/Certification

High School diploma or equivalent
Specialized courses in vocational mechanics school – preferred
Completion of a four to five year District apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid Colorado driver’s license
Able to obtain CDE Inspector Qualification
Colorado Diesel Emissions/Opacity Certification
Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred at hire; required within 2 months after hire.

Experience

Two years and up to and including five years of experience in gasoline and diesel engine repair including work with brakes, transmissions, electrical, steering, and computer diagnostics – preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Oral and written communication skills; English language skills
Interpersonal relations skills; Customer service and public relations skills; Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
Personal computer and keyboarding skills; advanced computer hardware and software skills; operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and Google
Operating knowledge of and experience with general office equipment, including telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.;
Knowledge of operating, installing, supporting and maintaining PCs and associated application software preferred at hire.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Bilingual oral and written communication skills preferred
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; Ability to manage multiple priorities

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week

This is a Grade 8 position, starting at $26.51/hour
