We are looking for passionate, caring, and dedicated counselors and social workers to provide office-based and telehealth services to our clients.
The Crisis Recovery Center will transform crisis care by providing 24/7 walk-in behavioral health services meant to immediately identify, triage, address, stabilize and treat persons in mental health crisis and assist those who have substance abuse withdrawal needs.
The 23-Hour Observation Clinician provides direct clinical services including crisis intervention, mental health assessments, brief stabilization treatment, and care coordination for individuals admitted to the Crisis Recovery Center’s 23-hour observation unit. This clinician plays a critical role in evaluating individuals in acute psychiatric distress, developing short-term treatment and safety plans, and ensuring safe discharge or transition to the appropriate level of care. All duties are performed under the supervision of the Crisis Recovery Center leadership and in compliance with trauma-informed, client-centered care standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals admitted to the 23-hour observation unit.
- Provide crisis intervention, stabilization services, and brief therapeutic counseling as needed.
- Develop short-term treatment and safety plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
- Monitor and document client mental status, risk level, and behavioral health needs throughout the observation period.
- Collaborate with prescribers, nurses, case managers, and other interdisciplinary staff to determine appropriate levels of care.
- Coordinate referrals and facilitate warm hand-offs to higher levels of care, outpatient providers, or community-based services upon discharge.
- Educate and support clients and their families/significant others regarding mental health conditions, medications, and safety planning.
- Lead or assist with therapeutic groups focused on stabilization, coping, and psychoeducation as appropriate to the unit’s programming.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress, disposition planning, and treatment interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Support a trauma-informed environment of care and utilize person-centered, recovery-oriented language.
- Participate in regular training and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Intervention, and any required clinical competencies.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong working knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, suicide risk assessment, de-escalation techniques, and short-term stabilization planning.
- Ability to assess client strengths and risks, establish rapport quickly, and provide therapeutic intervention in a fast-paced, acute care environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with psychotropic medications and mental health crisis protocols.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed in the State of Ohio as an LSW, LPC, or higher. Independent licensure (LISW, LPCC) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years in the mental health field, preferably in crisis services or acute care settings.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
Pay Range: $54,620.80 - $66,582.45 annual salary
Placement within the pay scale is commensurate with experience and qualifications
