Position Duties
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work or;
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative or;
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience or;
Master's degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling or;
Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience or;
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.
Valid driver's license required. Must possess a valid driver’s license as it may be necessary to make home visits, to assist with transportation to medical appointments and on essential errands.
The ideal candidate would possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of social work principles, techniques/practices & their application to specific casework & community.
- Knowledge of Special Assistance/In Home program
- Knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources.
- Knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies that govern social work programs.
- Requires assessment skills, organizational and time management skills, the ability to collaborate with community partners and citizens of Forsyth County.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
- Knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies that govern social work programs.
Other Qualifications
This position involves collaborating with clients across various service areas, including, but not limited to, Special Assistance In-Home (worker/trainer), Medicaid Administrative Claiming, Unclaimed Bodies, and Placement.
The Senior Social Worker will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with facilities to determine bed availability for placements.
Additionally, this role will support Adult Home Specialists by conducting visual assessments of residents, assisting with state complaints, and participating in quarterly facility monitoring.
The Senior Social Worker will also handle inquiries related to Family Care Homes. Furthermore, this individual will provide support to other programs within the Adult Division, such as Adult Guardianship and Adult Protective Services, when possible.
Requires independent decision-making, assessment skills, professional judgment, effective interview skills, ability to collaborate and knowledge of community resources, ability to effectively communicate (both orally and written) with a diverse population from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and a variety of physical and/or mental capabilities, must be able to multi-task.
