A Day in the Life

As Sales Operations Leader for Cardiac Surgery (CS) in Western Europe (WE), you play a strategic leadership role in building and executing the CS business vision, driving operational excellence and commercial execution across the region (~$150M annual revenue). You will lead a high-performing team and ensure product availability to key customers in priority areas, while optimizing inventory levels, driving collaboration across functions, and representing CS Western Europe in global planning processes.

You will report functionally to the Western European Cardiac Surgery Business Sr Director & operationally to the Global Cardiac Surgery IBP Director and manage a team of 2 direct reports (solid line) and 5 dotted-line country-level Sales Operations Specialists. In this role, you are also a key voice in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, ensuring WE commercial demand aligns with financial goals and global operations.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Drive Strategic Vision & Cross-Functional Leadership: Contribute to defining and executing the strategic vision of the Cardiac Surgery (CS) business in Western Europe (WE); act as the strategic representative of WE CS commercial demand in IBP, Long-Range Planning, and Supply & Operational Execution forums
  • Team Leadership & Governance: Lead, coach, and develop a team of direct and indirect Sales Operations Specialists across WE; actively participate in and lead field governance boards, resolving issues related to inventory, SOGL (Scrap, Obsolescence, Gain & Loss), and order handling
  • Demand Planning & Forecasting: Plan and communicate quarterly demand to meet financial targets; engage with Global Operations and Marketing to influence product allocation and availability, while driving forecasting accuracy and fair allocation between WE and CEMA+Russia
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization: Lead field and distribution center (DC) inventory reduction plans with measurable KPIs; oversee processes and reporting related to product availability, allocation, and delivery performance in collaboration with supply chain, field inventory, and customer service
  • Product Availability & Customer Support: Ensure product availability to key customers in priority areas through close coordination with sales leaders and marketing; maintain agility in meeting customer needs by working cross-functionally with Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Customer Service
  • Custom Packs & Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee custom pack processes (drawing creation, setup, regulatory approvals), manage portfolio rationalization, and acquire knowledge of competitive alternatives for phasing out Medtronic CS products to support sales continuity
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Facilitate and monitor product quality processes (complaints, CAPAs, customer letters, field escalations); improve complaint return processes, and promote continuous improvement across analytics, reporting, and team collaboration

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department
  • Requires a Bachelor degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English
