What you’ll be doing: 

  • Conducting routine safety inspections and audits throughout the facility.
     
  • Supporting incident investigations and helping to implement corrective actions.
     
  • Facilitating safety training sessions and ensuring all employees are up to date on required certifications.
     
  • Maintaining accurate records of safety documentation, including OSHA logs and training records.
     
  • Promoting a culture of safety by reinforcing company policies, procedures, and best practices.
     
  • Collaborating with supervisors and employees to identify and address safety concerns.
     
  • Monitoring PPE compliance and ensuring proper usage throughout the facility.
     
  • Continuously seeking ways to improve workplace safety and reduce risk.

Requirements

  Education/Experience:

1. Must have five (5) years of manufacturing experience with at least three (3) years of experience related to environmental, health, and safety. Prefer B.S. degree in EHS. Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.


Physical:

1. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for 8 hours or more per day.

2. Must be able to use both hands for tasks such as handling, feeling and reaching with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch and climb ladders.

3. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds 

4. Must have good close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus on work.


Mental:

1. Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex written and verbal instructions; operating and maintenance instructions; and technical and procedure manuals. 

2. Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, proportions, percentage, area, circumference and volume. Must also use concepts such as basic algebra and geometry.

3. Must have ability to deal with problems involving multiple abstract and concrete variables in varying situations and adapt to the varying tasks with changing priorities.

4. Ability to handle stressful situations and make decisions under pressure. 

5. Strong interpersonal skills along with ability to handle interpersonal conflicts.


Technical:

1. Must have a technical understanding of forging and/or manufacturing processes.

2. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, with strong general computer skills. Must also have the ability to write clearly and effectively, including preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence.

3. Must have knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements and familiarity with local, state and federal law as it applies to safety and health; complete OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification; and RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management certification. Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is also required or must be obtained.
