About the Department
The MOW Foreperson will assign, oversee, direct, plan, and assist work crews under his/her jurisdiction, ensuring that all aspects of the track and right-of-way are repaired and maintained in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
Position Duties
- Repair and maintain track and right-of-way (ROW).
- Inspect job sites to ensure compliance with night orders, work schedules, standards of quality, and safety requirements.
- Construct, maintain, and repair track and/or right-of-way systems/projects at various Authority locations.
- Order, schedule, and expedite all materials and equipment necessary to complete area projects.
- Ensure all inventory is accounted for and safeguarded, and that equipment and facilities under his/her control are protected and maintained in a safe operating condition.
- Prepare, document, and maintain required maintenance and personnel records using manual and computerized tracking systems.
- Perform all routine and incidental track/right-of-way maintenance and repair duties necessary for the successful completion of projects and assignments.
- Measure actual work results against established standards or custom requirements.
- Assume responsibilities of the supervisor as needed.
- Ensure all work is timely and cost-effectively performed and budgetary goals are met.
- Provide technical instruction when necessary.
- Drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites and/or transport crews or equipment as needed.
- Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority's customer service quality standard.
- Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
- Assist in managing a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable), and policies of the Authority, including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Retaliation policies.
- Available to work all shifts and locations as assigned or directed
- Perform related duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of experience in rail/track repair, maintenance, and construction.
- Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to use Word, Excel, or database applications.
- A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or permit with general knowledge and air brakes endorsements or ability to obtain one within the first 6 months of hire.
- Have excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
- Ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Successful applicants must have English language skills required for the effective performance of the position.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- A technical degree, training from a technical institute or related technical certificates; and/or related experience in a supervisory capacity in rail/track repair.
