Maintenance/Courier Description
PAY RATE LEVEL: Two (2) $18.25 - $21.00 per hour
REPORTS TO: Store Manager (Portola) or Front End Manager (Quincy)
SUPPORTS: All Departments Purpose The Maintenance position ensures smooth operation of our facilities. This position involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks that keep our stores safe, functional and pleasant. This position will cover both store locations.
The courier function of this position is to ensure product transfers between the two store locations. The courier is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of goods to any co-op location as assigned.
Essential Job Duties
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify issues and ensure functionality.
- Remove snow from all properties as needed. Perform minor repairs and maintenance including plumbing, heating, electrical, lighting, and carpentry work. This includes work at both locations as assigned.
- Perform dump runs as assigned.
- Inform the person in charge of maintenance issues that arise.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Maintain inventory of tools and supplies needed for maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Assist with setting up or taking down equipment, furniture, and other fixtures as needed.
- Perform landscaping duties to include pulling weeds, cleaning up brush, light tree trimming and lawn care. This includes work at both locations as assigned.
- Perform general cleaning and upkeep of facilities to provide a safe and welcoming environment. This includes the daily maintenance of the floors, windows, bathrooms, walk-ins, office spaces, outdoor spaces and storage areas.
TEAMWORK RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide excellent service to peers and co-workers; demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and outside contacts.
- Support team goals and objectives. Participate in team meetings as requested.
- Communicate issues with and support fellow team members.
STOREWIDE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abide by dress code and all Co-op policies and procedures as specified in the FRFC Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to attendance policy and communicate according to procedure.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in assigned projects.
- Read staff notebook and notices regularly.
- Adhere to safety and security policies and rules. Promptly report potential security threats, safety hazards, and accidents to a manager.

Daily Physical Demands include:
- Must have access to a vehicle. Travel is required between Quincy and Portola at least twice per week. Mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate.
- Use of light machinery to include: hand tools, weedwackers, lawn mowers, pruners, shovels, rakes.
- Must show proof of insurance and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Use hands and fingers to feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Walk, climb, or balance and stoop.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to team lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to converse with employees and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information while working the store floor and communicating with employees and customers.
- Vision ability requirements include the ability to inspect, identify, observe and assess the situational work environment both close up and at a distance. Utilize color and shape to recognize products.
Scheduling Requirements
The scheduling availability described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. All employees must be available to work weekends, evenings, early mornings, holidays, and high demand seasons. Employees will be provided a recurring base schedule at the time of hire, this will be used to determine the employees employment benefit status. Additionally, employees will be scheduled up to 40 hours per work week as needed to provide store coverage. Employees are subject to adhering to all scheduling, vacation, sick, and attendance related policies not

Work Environment
- Fast paced, physically demanding work environment.
- Work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. store equipment, tools, etc.)
- Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noises (i.e. equipment and machinery)
- Ability to work outside under hot and cold conditions.
- Crowded workspaces. Computer sharing is sometimes required.
- Can involve work in high precarious places (i.e. ladders, ladder work.)
- Ability to work in cold, wet conditions
