OVERVIEW

The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting, booking, planning, and coordinating group rooms, meetings, and functions, while maximizing the banquet space to meet and exceed sales goals. The role involves finalizing group business and recommending program and procedural changes to continuously enhance performance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Negotiate and secure new and repeat business through various efforts including outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, and networking
  • Maximize banquet space utilize to achieve and exceed revenue goals
  • Develop and execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Plan, upsell, and detail meetings and functions with clients, covering space requirements, items, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc.
  • Complete contracts, prepare appropriate paperwork, coordinate with relevant hotel departments, and resolve any issues or complaints to ensure top quality product delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare status reports and period end reports to keep management informed of activities and progress
  • Oversees the BEO meeting, ensures clear communication of group requirements to staff, and addresses guest requests promptly and professionally
  • Manages methods of payment, billing processes, and financial oversight for group bookings and events
  • Stay updated on corporate and hotel procedures, products, and competitor offerings to continually improve sales strategies and goal achievement
  • Participate in professional organizations and events to maintain high visibility and promote the hotel’s sales efforts
  • Any other tasks as requested by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Proven experience in sales or event management, preferably within the hospitality industry
  •  Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to meet and exceed sales targets and build long lasting relationships with clients
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team

EXPERIENCE

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build relationships with guests and team members
  • Proficiency in event management software, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, Delphi CRM system for Hilton is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry standards and best practices
  • Commitment to maintaining high service standards and ensuring guest satisfaction

ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described represent those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most work will be performed indoors in moderate temperatures, controlled by hotel environmental systems.

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, up to a complete 8-hour shift or more if overtime is required. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds regularly. Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying of supplies as needed.


OTHER

The Sales Manager may be required to work varying schedules as dictated by the business needs of the hotel. This includes attendance at all scheduled brand and job specific training sessions and meetings. May require nights, weekends, and holidays.

Consistent attendance in accordance with the standards set forth by Resolute Road Hospitality must be maintained and is an essential element of the success in this role. If the Sales Manager is unable to meet these requirements, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action based on management operating policies, up to and including termination of employment.
