Why our Claim Intake Specialist is Important:

A company buys insurance for financial security in exchange for a promise on coverage. When an injury or loss occurs, the injured worker expects to receive medical treatment and disability compensation in a timely manner. Timely delivery is the heart of the claims function and process. Our Claim Intake Specialist carries out our promise, "Proudly Taking Care of Hawai`i" and plays a vital role in supporting our internal staff and policyholders. Training will be provided.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct timely 3-point contact with injured employees, employers, and medical providers to gather key information.
  • Set-up and document new workers' compensation claims in the claim system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Track records-only claims, including data entry, documentation, and provide follow-up as necessary.
  • Provide claim intake and setup support during Adjuster PTO or high-volume periods (overflow).
  • Learn and apply the company’s reserve philosophy, including initiating reserves based on intake findings.
  • Calculate average weekly wages and compensation rates.  Assist in processing  initial compensation payments, under supervision, once trained.

  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with all stakeholders, maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Work closely with Claim Adjusters to ensure a smooth transition from intake to ongoing claim management.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to gain technical competency in workers' compensation laws and internal processes.
  • Document and work within all Claim-related systems including but not limited to Guidewire, Image Right, My Matrix (Express Scripts), and IQ Review (AMC Bills).
