About the Department
Assists the City Clerk in the planning, administration, and execution of various duties in connection with the 2025 General Elections.
HOURS
Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, with some possible evening/weekend work.
Up to 19/HRs a week
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a temporary and variable hour position which begins mid-September 2025, through mid-November 2025, with most hours scheduled between September 15 through November 14. The hours will fluctuate between 0 and 40 hours per week as needed between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may require evening work on each Election day and will require work on the Saturday before each election from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Process absentee voting applications through the State Voter Registration System (SVRS).
- Assist voters with in-person absentee voting and serve as a member of the Absentee Ballot Board.
- Assist in facilitating absentee voting for health care facilities in the City.
- Attend election training as required to help in the administration of election services for the City.
- Answer general inquiries from the public about voting locations, voter registration, absentee voting, and information about elected officials and candidates.
- Assist with election equipment testing to ensure accuracy of equipment.
- Assist with preparation of election supplies.
- Assist with election judge recruitment, assignments, and training.
- Assist with retaining/storing current elections materials/Destruction of expired election materials.
- Data entry, scanning, and copying as needed.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the City.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully in both written and oral form in responding to inquiries from City staff and the public.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license
- One year experience performing office, secretarial, or clerical work.
- Two years’ experience working with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Two years’ experience in providing customer service or related position.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with elections and the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) absentee ballot module
- Strong proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience working in a local government office.
