Are you a recent graduate ready to kick-start your career in the fast-paced world of mergers and acquisitions (M&A)? Compre – a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality group – is looking for ambitious and analytical individuals to join our dynamic Business Development team as an M&A Trainee.

This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of the legacy (re)insurance market, helping to execute transactions across the UK, North America and continental Europe. You’ll gain hands-on deal experience, benefit from one-on-one mentoring and contribute to real transactions soon after joining.

You’ll work across multiple jurisdictions with exposure to varied transactions – from Lloyd’s portfolios to European run-off books.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate key workstreams during live M&A transactions
• Support due diligence and evaluation of acquisition opportunities
• Work with experienced deal professionals and external advisors
• Prepare reports and updates for senior leaders and executives
• Assist in market research and origination activities
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and pitchbook updates
• Participate in legacy market events, forums, and seminars

Candidate requirements

We don’t expect you to have deal experience – we’ll teach you. But here’s what will set you up for success:

• Right to work in this location – visa sponsorship is not available
• A numerate university degree (finance, law, business or economics a plus)
• Strong analytical and financial acumen
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Curiosity, drive and a problem-solving mindset
• A collaborative attitude and interest in financial services or insurance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Bonus if you speak a second European language (e.g., French, German, Italian), though it’s not essential.
• Contributing positively to our culture and values.
