Job Title: Technician-Parking Enforcement

Annual Salary Range: $58,864.00 - $75,150.40

FSLA: Exempt


General Summary: The City of Lancaster, Community Development Department is

accepting applications for the position of Community Preservation Technician (Parking Enforcement) to fill one (1) vacancy. The Community Preservation Technician position works under the general supervision of a Parking Enforcement Supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED)
  • Experience: One year’s experience with enforcement-related duties or significant public contact.
  • Ability to obtain a 40-hour P.O.S.T PC 832 Certificate within one year of employment.
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License
  • Must be willing to work weekdays, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work outdoors as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • The position works under the general supervision of the Parking Enforcement Supervisor. They are primarily responsible for patrolling assigned areas of the city to enforce parking regulations, ordinances, and laws, issuing citation as appropriate. They maintain various records and logs, assist with traffic control, answer public inquiries, and assist with complaints.
  • Handle Code Enforcement cases including sending notices, inputting information, speaking to residents regarding their citation and closing out cases.
  • Informs the public regarding the Lancaster Municipal Code and California Vehicle Code related to parking.
  • Patrols streets daily and cites vehicles parked in violation of posted street sweeping zones.
  • Obtains towing services for the removal of illegally parked vehicles, filing needed reports.
  • Ability to operate a computer for case management, documentation, emails, and utilize software to perform required research and maintain case investigation
