Job Description
SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Property Adjuster I will partner with subject matters experts to learn every facet of the claims process. Members of the program will apply key learnings to effectively determines and communicates the extent of loss or damage associated with commercial property claims in a variety of business classes. The Property Adjuster will be assigned loss or damage assessments in a low to moderate cost range, based on experience and demonstrated aptitude for handling larger or more complex claims.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply knowledge learned to conduct property inspections and photographs claim sites as necessary to depict and substantiate losses or damage.
Display understanding of insurance policies to establish appropriate loss estimates and demonstrates understanding of a variety of coverage and loss types.
Investigate insurance claims in a variety of commercial settings.
Gather information from insured and from experts (i.e. architects, engineers, builders etc.) to assess the extent of the loss accurately.
Collaborate with carrier’s examiners as needed to conduct investigations, confirm findings and support evaluations.
Ensure the accuracy of information collected, reported and guards against fraudulent claims, based on critical issues identified.
Prepares accurate and detailed reports to insurance carriers on conclusions and recommendations.
Follows established best practices in preparing information and submits documentation timely.
Effectively uses software systems such as Xactimate as necessary to produce accurate estimates.
Obtains supervision or guidance as necessary, and in accordance with EMA’s best practices, in formulating recommendations and completing evaluations and reports.
Participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
Functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors.

Adheres to all applicable State Insurance Regulation requirements and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards; assumes personal responsibility for maintaining the requisite state license for the state(s) assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Ability to obtain a license and bond in the assigned state(s).
