Job Description:
The National Insurance Producer (NIPR) has an exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator position. The Database administrator is an Application DBA responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and monitoring data management systems to ensure design, consistency, quality, and security. Additionally, DBAs are expected to assess database performance, perform database tuning, performance monitoring, and resolve performance issues. They will work closely with the NIPR software teams to write and debug complex SQL, understand the best ways to incorporate database requests into application, perform technical troubleshooting, and give consultation. At times this work will require interfacing with NAIC DBA team and Oracle corporation for technical support. This is a full-time, remote position.
Responsibilities
Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements.
Create and maintain database objects (e.g., tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, triggers).
Monitor and complete DBA ‘Requests for Change’ in a timely fashion.
Create, manage, and follow up on vendor support tickets.
Work with DBA staff on identifying and troubleshooting database issues (e.g., connectivity, performance, application errors, ORA/SQL errors).
Communicate with end-user application areas regarding database design, performance, availability, and any other issues encountered.
Maintains understanding of enterprise jobs and communicates changes or conflicts to appropriate areas.
Work with the Security team to enforce security policies and remediate vulnerabilities.
Focuses on reducing manual data work and improving productivity
Follows NAIC/NIPR accepted guidelines on version control for all technical development
Coordinates with the IT (Tech & data) departments to deploy software and hardware upgrades that make it possible to leverage big data use cases
Support the Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes used by the enterprise. Support includes:
Mapping design and troubleshooting.
Workflow runtime and troubleshooting.
ETL connectivity support.
Works with other members of the Data Analytics team to coordinate end to end data solutions from source to target
Effectively estimates work of self and other team members
Serves as a data team representative in meetings as needed.
Creates and presents presentations on assigned projects or technical topics.
Recommends solutions to management which may influence future course of action, aligning with our goals

Minimum Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or another related analytical field and 5 years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills
Adept at database design, documentation, and coding
Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity.
In depth understanding of Oracle, Snowflake and AWS cloud infrastructure
Experience coordinating resources across departments to achieve desired outcomes
Preferred Experience and Education
Certifications
SnowPro® Advanced: Administrator
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
AWS Certified Database – Specialty
Preferred Experience
Proven Experience (Proficiency) with Oracle Database and / or Snowflake
Experience designing, configuring and managing databases
Experience performing backup and recovery using database management systems
Experience designing and implementing approaches to improve database performance, capacity & scalability
Experience managing large & complex database projects, programs or processes on prem and on cloud servers
Experience defining standards for data storage, maintenance, access & security administration
Experience with Gitlab and Terraform
Experience with database modeling and tools
Experience with Linux/Unix
Compensation
Starting at $78,355 up to $110,000, to be commensurate with experience and education.
