SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Salary Range: $63163 - $82108 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the III Marine Expeditionary Force of Safety Office. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Major Duties:

  • You will interpret and provide guidance on safety and occupational health concepts, principles, laws, and regulations.
  • You will provide technical safety and occupational health guidance on training, explosives safety, radiation and laser safety, hazard materials storage, personal protective equipment, mishap investigation analysis, and unsafe working conditions.
  • You will ensure safety and occupational health requirements mandated by law or regulation are implemented, monitored, and evaluated.
  • You will provide safety oversight of tactical operations.
  • You will conduct site assessments and provide technical guidance during the operational planning process to ensure the integration of safety risk management.
  • You will conduct various safety briefings, safety training classes, and professional development classes for senior and junior leaders.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating comprehensive safety programs; providing oversight and technical guidance for required safety programs; AND coordinating, conducting and administering mishap, near-miss and safety and occupational health complaint investigations.
