Purpose:School Impact Case Manager leads initiatives serving refugee and immigrant children, youth, and families that support access to education, academic success, grade promotion, and high school graduation.
Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Welcome and orient new refugee families to the local school system.
- Develop and execute needs assessment and programs for refugee students and families 0-6 and K-12
- Ensure families with children ages 5 and under have access to childcare and preschool as delineated in their FSSP.
- Oversee data entry of clients in database ensure quality control of case notes.
- Complete semi-annual and annual reports for State Office of Refugees.
- Advocate at the school level for curricula that provides representation for students and recognizes their needs and strengths.
- Advocate on behalf of clients, and refugee-serving voluntary agencies.
- Offer interpretation and translation services to clients, as well as transportation to interviews and appointments as necessary. (Compensation is paid by CWS for mileage when using a personal vehicle.)
- Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor.
- Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to refugees, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients.
- Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
- Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
- Work varied hours, including some night and weekend work.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in refugee resettlement or other direct social services.
- Cultural sensitivity is essential.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Fluency in refugee languages such as Haitian Creole.
- Superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Computer literacy- with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and internet applications.
- The successful candidate must have a car, a valid driver’s license, and an insurable driving record.
- This is a hybrid position, involving in-person and remote work.
- Works varied hours, including possible night and weekend work.
