JOB OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Technician takes responsibility for the daily maintenance tasks necessary to keep the plant running smoothly and efficiently.  In addition to taking responsibility for the daily maintenance, the technician works hand-in-hand with the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors & Leaders, other Maintenance Technicians and the broader team, as appropriate, to identify ways to improve the plant and keep production moving smoothly.  This position requires exceptional organizational and detail skills, a problem-solving approach, and a firm grasp of the mechanics necessary to solve the variety of maintenance tasks that come up on a day-to-day basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regularly inspect and maintain equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow scheduled maintenance procedures and keep records of all work performed.
  • Conduct routine checks on equipment like conveyors, packaging machinery, and processing equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Repair or replace damaged parts and components.
  • Install, align, and disassemble equipment as needed.
  • Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify and resolve problems.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including those related to Confined Space, Hot Work, and Lock-out Tag-out.
  • Report any safety risks or concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor and Site Safety Specialist.
  • Evaluate production line processes and help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with contractors as needed to perform duties on projects
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications.
  • Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage work orders and track equipment history.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of experience in industrial maintenance experience in food processing or manufacturing setting.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Knowledge of processing equipment operation, setttings, and adjustments.
  • Ability to use power tools (drill, grinder, impact, saw, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use a computer, tablet, and other devices to communicate and utilize required company software.
  • Developed listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and detail skills
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Must be a problem-solver who uses good judgement
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Basic boiler steam system and refrigeration knowledge preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. It may also require working at elevated heights.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.

  • Expected Pay Range: $25.19 - $32.04
  • Bonus: This role may further qualify for supplemental compensation in the form of bonus and incentive programs, contingent upon achieving pre-established individual and company performance metrics.
