Description

The High Awards Coordinator is a full-time remote position, serving girls and volunteers by providing support to ensure effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). The High Awards Coordinator is a member of the Mission Delivery Team, which is responsible for girl and volunteer support.  The primary focus of this position is support and retention of girls in 6th – 12th grades. By mentoring girls and adult volunteers in an assigned program level, 6-12, the High Awards Coordinator will collaborate with Girl Scout stakeholders, to ensure that girls have quality leadership experiences.

Qualifications


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Gold Award Committee community through coordination of the annual retreat, including opportunities for community-building and collaboration.
  • Support and retain adult volunteers through ongoing training and resource development.
  • Maintain accurate records for the High Awards process and manage the Gold Award database.
  • Assists in achieving the council’s high awards goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality events, curricula, and additional resources.
  • Serve as the council-wide resource for Girl Scout Highest Awards
  • Lead in planning the annual INSPIRE Showcase and Gold Award Celebration
  • Works with Cross Functional teams to determine or develop innovative strategies to ensure the effective support of high awards within the Council.
  • Promote and support age-appropriate high awards to Cadette, Senior and Ambassador troops as well as individual girls.
  • As the Girl Voice advocate, to ensure that we are utilizing Girl Voice at the council level, use feedback mechanisms from girls to ensure that we are offering relevant programs.
  • Conduct training to girls and volunteers to prepare them to earn high awards.
  • Answers, problem solves, manages, and responds to call center requests.
  • Schedule and coordinate monthly girl interviews and contact points, to ensure girls are navigating the Gold Award process appropriately.
  • Act as an ambassador to promote the visibility of the Girl Scout organization and its highest awards.
  • Direct delivery of program as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with girls, staff, volunteers, and parents in a positive, professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Initiative to identify challenges and actively work to find solutions.
  • 2-4 years of experience working in youth development
  • Ability to commit to the organizational goals of the Council.
  • Must be Microsoft proficient.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Able to speak effectively before individuals and groups and proactively to communicate the value of high awards to both internal and external audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience in working with middle and high school-aged girls.
  • Knowledge of best practices in leadership development for teenage girls.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize each.
  • Able to work cooperatively as a team member with staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout organization, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and the requirements for girls to earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold or the willingness to learn.

 

Working Conditions

  • Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Periodically requires long or unusual hours.
  • Willingness to attend staff, team, and department meetings.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires the physical ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
