Do you want to join us as a Data Scientist, and help develop our data capabilities to make a difference? We have created a new data and analytics hub within the technology and data directorate, and a new Data Science Team within that. We are looking for a Data Scientist that will play a key role in safeguarding children and young people by building models that will allow us to better leverage the masses of textual data we receive. The NSPCC Childline and Helpline services provide call-in and message-based counselling services to children, young people and concerned adults every 40 seconds. In this role you will focus on building NLP and LLM capabilities that better allow us to identify the concerns of children and young people and provision resources to support them. Your work will enable the Childline team to pull out specific insights on online harms and experiences of contacts to the Childline service in issues such as online grooming and viewing of harmful content online.You will be hands-on in developing and maintaining models, ensuring their performance can be properly evaluated in what is a fast-moving field. You will also work closely with internal stakeholders and the Lead Data Scientist to identify the most impactful and sensitive implementations of this technology, and to ensure any solutions properly address business needs.
