Job OverviewWe are thrilled to present an exceptional opening for a Science Research Lead to join our dedicated team in pioneering advanced cognitive learning map models. These innovative models aim to encapsulate students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding in the field of science, with a specific emphasis on K-12 educational instruction and assessment.In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in research design, management, and dissemination to spearhead projects that enhance science learning models. Your ability to collaborate effectively will be essential as you engage with both internal and external partners to influence product development, project design, and implementation strategies.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Science Learning Map Projects (70%)
  • Execute research syntheses in science education and cognitive literature to refine learning map models.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external reviews of learning maps through effective collaboration across functional teams.
  • Analyze feedback from review panels and adjust the maps in accordance with emerging research findings.
  • Produce technical documentation relevant to the development of science maps and associated initiatives.
  • Oversee research projects focused on the application of formal learning models in science.
  • Contribute to grant initiatives aimed at developing, adapting, or implementing science learning maps.
  • Develop Educational Materials (15%)
  • Collaborate with various teams to design high-quality, accessible, map-based educational resources that bolster science teaching and learning for all students.
  • Utilize your knowledge of science education and the Next Generation Science Standards to evaluate instructional guides and professional development materials, including resources designed for teachers of students with extensive support needs.
  • Engage with External Audiences (10%)
  • Communicate effectively with state departments of education and professional organizations.
  • Present information regarding learning maps to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Additional Duties (5%)
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsThis full-time (40 hours per week) unclassified position offers flexibility for well-qualified candidates to work in a hybrid or remote capacity, depending on team requirements. Occasional travel to various locations may be necessary, along with participation in regularly scheduled meetings, either onsite or via telecommunication platforms.Required Skills
  • A Ph.D. in science, science education, psychology, curriculum and instruction, or a related field, OR a master's degree in a relevant area with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • At least 1 year of academic or professional experience in conducting, documenting, and synthesizing empirical research in science education.
  • Experience working on projects aligned with Next Generation Science Standards or related K-12 academic standards in science.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, tailored for both scholarly and practitioner audiences, as evidenced in application materials and interviews.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
