Financial Analyst | Acorns

Acorns is seeking an exceptional Finance Analyst to support cross-functional initiatives including management reporting, data and model refinement, plan vs. actual analyses, strategic initiatives, and short-term and long-term forecasting. This person will provide tactical and strategic insights and analysis to drive business decisions. This role will work directly with the Finance Manager as well as teams throughout the organization. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual with a strong sense of ownership that will add tremendous value to the company.

This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine, CA, or New York, NY offices.

Within 1 month, you will:

• Get introduced to the organization, especially the business partners that you will work closely with
• Develop a deep understanding of the product, business model, and financials
• Shadow the Finance & Accounting Team during the monthly close and management reporting process
• Add Bullet on actualization, basic analysis, data entry

Within 3 months, you will:

• Refine and optimize existing financial models, improving their accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
• Perform data clean-up and validation to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data for modeling purposes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data inputs and assumptions for model updates
• Assist in monthly financial reporting and variance analysis of forecast/actuals and KPIs
• Equip product managers with monthly insight on particular business trends
• Support the development and revision of short and long-term financial plans
• Assist in other ad-hoc analysis and presentation requests

Within 6 months, you will:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making
• Support strategic decision-making, which will include analytics initiatives such as financial modeling, go-to-market strategy, channel performance measurement, and cost-benefit analysis
• Assist in department-level budgeting, tracking and reporting processes, with the goal of accurately forecasting and managing expectations
• Assist in the transition to a new accounting system and chart of accounts, ensuring accurate integration of financial data and alignment of key financial models across departments and global teams.
• Help drive business decisions by providing actionable financial reporting on a regular and ad-hoc basis

What you will bring to Acorns:

• Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience with a stronger weighting towards corporate finance roles within a dynamic operating company
• Bachelors in Finance or Accounting or equivalent discipline
• Experience integrating systems, especially with Workday
• Relevant financial planning and budgeting experience within a high-growth company is a plus
• Must possess excellent analytical, financial modeling and presentation skills with the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
• Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and passionate person who understands the importance of being the lead for the Operating Expense function
• Ability and desire to roll up sleeves and be hands-on in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, high-growth environment

Compensation Information:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $95,000 and $105,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
