The Services Subdivision within FIFA Event Operations Division is seeking an experienced and highly organised Freelance Project Manager to assist in the development and management of project plans and event blueprints for various FIFA tournaments/events and business-related projects. This role will require collaboration across multiple functional areas within the subdivision, utilising Monday.com to coordinate, track, and report on progress.

The freelance role will initially be offered on an initial three-month project basis, with the potential to extend for longer-term collaboration depending on performance and business requirements.

THE POSITION

These Are Your Key Tasks

Project Management

  • Collaborate with functional areas within the Subdivision to create, update, and maintain detailed project plans using Monday.com.
  • Develop comprehensive event blueprints, including timelines, resource requirements, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Monitor project progress, adjusting plans as necessary to accommodate changes and resolve any issues.
  • Assist in planning of business process improvements (e.g., IT services and tools).
  • Ensure project plans account for all planning, operational, and strategic aspects related to event delivery.

Reporting & Communication

  • Produce monthly reports detailing key activities completed, ongoing tasks, and upcoming milestones for the senior management team.
  • Provide clear and timely communication on project status, risks, and issues to key stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations and documentation to support strategic decision-making processes.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage project-related risks and issues, ensuring timely escalation and resolution
  • Proactively monitor potential roadblocks and propose solutions to mitigate risks.

Project Blueprints

  • Develop and implement detailed post-event/project closeout packs, summarizing performance, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Gather feedback from functional areas and compile final reports and documentation on project management status for senior leadership.

The Specific Competencies We Require For This Position Are

  • Proven experience in event project management in a PMO environment dealing with multiple event projects simulatenously at different stages in the event lifecycle, preferably in the sports sector, with a focus on large-scale, complex events (e.g., international tournaments, sporting events and congresses/conventions).
  • Strong proficiency in Monday.com or other similar project management tools.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to work, influence and communicate in a corporate and project-focused organisation.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a problem-solving aptitude is essential.
  • The ability to work within a fast paced ever changing environment.
  • Ability to understand the wider picture and proactively integrate different stakeholders across a range of cultures.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, project requirements, and timelines.
