Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a proactive and driven Sales Account Manager to support our local sales team and develop new accounts for stretch flexibles in both copackers and retailers. This role involves full responsibility for budget management and forecasting, working closely with the S&OP team for accurate forecasting and collaborating with the innovation and marketing teams for new product launches, market mapping, and intelligence. The candidate will also coordinate product tests/trials at the customer level and provide market and price intelligence to stay ahead of competitors.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Account Portfolio Management: Oversee and develop your portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Objective Setting: Agree on and achieve objectives for your account portfolio.
  • Market Research: Conduct and manage market research to increase market penetration and sales potential.
  • Sales Forecasting: Develop and maintain systems with customers to improve the reliability of sales forecasts.
  • Customer Service: Create and implement systems and processes to manage and resolve customer service issues, leveraging internal and external knowledge.
  • Relationship Building: Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the business.
  • Commercial Process Adherence: Maintain adherence to company commercial processes using required tools and systems (Salesforce/NPPI/NOC).
  • Project Management: Manage specific projects as assigned.
  • Market Data Analysis: Collate and analyze market data to inform business strategies.
  • Product Tests/Trials Coordination: Work with the application engineer to conduct product tests/trials at the customer level, ensuring proper execution and follow-up.
  • Competitor Analysis: Support marketing in identifying new competitors and new stretch flexibles in the market while providing price intelligence.

Functional Knowledge And Technical Skills

  • Sales Experience: Proven sales experience in the packaging sector is essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Decision Making: Ability to make sound business decisions in complex situations.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Relationship Building: Skilled in building and influencing relationships cross-functionally within a complex matrix environment.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications And Experience

  • Degree: Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in CRM systems (preferably Salesforce), Windows NT, MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and Access Database.

Key Competencies

  • Language Skills: Fluent in English; a second language is advantageous.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external communication.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with good time management, planning, and attention to detail.
  • Numeracy: Proficient in the manipulation and management of data.
