Your Role
As the Manager, Rural and Remote this is your opportunity to provide strategic policy advice and manage the implementation of key projects and activities to support rural, remote and small schools. You will provide leadership, strategic planning and project management expertise through the development and implementation of key initiatives to ensure all children and students are supported to realise their full potential.
Responsibilities Include
- Lead and manage teams, projects and contracts, to ensure initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide high level advice and support to senior officers on policy and strategy relating to support for rural, remote and small schools.
- Coordinate and contribute to the strategic direction, planning and implementation of activities of the team, branch and Division.
- Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies and other entities on issues related to the functional area of the branch at state, national and international levels.
- Establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders and clients.
- Promote leadership and foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment for staff, which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:
- Highly organised with proven project management and contract management experience to deliver and implement initiatives that make a positive impact;
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex ideas and strategic advice clearly and accurately to Senior Executives and stakeholders;
- Effective negotiation and consultation skills. This will enhance your stakeholder management skills to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate, influence and sustain productive and effective relationships with a network of key stakeholders both internally and externally;
- Experience leading a high performing team with multiple competing priorities; and
- Adaptable, shows initiative and a keen problem solver who works towards finding effective solutions.
